BetVictor Gold Cup favourite Mister Whitaker will go into Saturday's big Cheltenham handicap carrying the confidence of trainer Mick Channon, who on Sunday issued a glowing appraisal of his festival winner.

Mister Whitaker finished with a flourish to narrowly win the Close Brothers Novices' Handicap Chase in March and he looked an improved performer when cosily winning a competitive renewal of the Listed Colin Parker Memorial at Carlisle on his reappearance this month.
