Leopardstown officials will continue to water the track this morning in an effort to preserve the current yielding ground, with a dry and windy day forecast for the second day of the Dublin Racing Festival.

Leading trainer Gordon Elliott spoke out about his frustrations about the drying ground and the racecourse watered last night, and continue to, while around 3mm of rain fell at the Dublin track overnight.

Leopardstown are pulling out all the stops to avoid a repeat of last year, where Sunday's card was plagued by 26 non-runners on the day, with 22 due to the going.

Lorcan Wyer, clerk of the course at Leopardstown, said on Sunday morning: "The going remains yielding and both tracks were watered overnight. The watering is still ongoing this morning in an effort to hold things and maintain it at yielding.

"The forecast is generally dry and breezy – but not as breezy as yesterday."

In the betting, punters are siding with favourite Kemboy to land the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup (3.30). The Willie Mullins-trained chaser has shortened into 5-4 from 6-4, while nearest challenger Delta Work is out to 11-4.

Stablemate Faugheen has drifted in the market for the Flogas Novice Chase (3.00). The veteran is now sharing 7-4 favouritism with Battleoverdoyen.

There are two non-runners in the 3m handicap hurdle (2.30). Alohamora and overnight favourite Silver Sheen have come out, meaning reserves Guard Of Honour and Cabaret Queen make it into the final field. Impatient Partner, another reserve, misses the race.

Cabaret Queen is now favourite with most firms, although Gordon Elliott's Column Of Fire shares the market lead with some bookmakers.

Monday's card at Fontwell abandoned

Fontwell has been forced to cancel Monday's jumps meeting, with the track waterlogged.

The track had 35mm of rain during the week and, with significant rain forecast, the decision was taken to abandon the six-race card.
