Cartmel should have hosted the second day of its popular bank holiday meeting on Monday, but instead it was one of five fixtures the track has lost due to the suspension of jump racing until July 1.

The Cumbrian track usually hosts nine jumps meetings between May and August but its season has been curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic. As part of a revised summer schedule, the BHA has allocated three meetings to the track, down from four, on July 26, August 7 and August 23.

"We usually kick off our season in style so it's been a weird bank holiday without racing at Cartmel but there's a bigger picture and we'll have to manage," said clerk of the course Anthea Morshead.
