Voting now open to decide Cartier Horse Of The Year 2022
The public can now decide on which star of the 2022 Flat season will be crowned Cartier Horse Of The Year after voting opened for the prestigious awards on Tuesday.
Votes from fans of the sport account for 35 per cent of the weighting when it comes to deciding the winners of the eight categories, combined with points earned in Pattern races throughout the year (30 per cent) and the opinions of a panel of racing journalists and handicappers (35 per cent).
The categories are headlined by the Horse Of The Year division, in which the likes of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Alpinista, the top-class Baaeed and Derby winner Desert Crown will bid for top honours.
Also among the ten horses nominated in the Horse Of The Year category are star sprinter Highfield Princess, French star Vadeni, King George winner Pyledriver and Irish Champion Stakes winner Luxembourg.
Alpinista, Baaeed and Pyledriver also feature among the nominations for the Older Horse division, while Desert Crown, Vadeni and Luxembourg are included alongside the likes of 2,000 Guineas winner Coroebus and Irish Derby hero Westover in the Three-Year-Old Colt category.
Inspiral, who is also nominated for Horse of the Year, heads the Three-Year-Old Filly category, while Highfield Princess is also in the Sprinter division. The Stayer category features Ascot Gold Cup, Irish St Leger and Prix du Cadran hero Kyprios, St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov and three-time Long Distance Cup hero Trueshan.
You can cast your vote via www.cartierracingawards.co.uk until midday next Tuesday before the 32nd edition of the awards are presented in a ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel, London, on November 9.
