Discussions over the appointment of a caretaker manager to oversee raceday operations for the remainder of the season at the Curragh are at an advanced stage and the new appointment could be in position as early as next week.

Derek McGrath is set to vacate his role as Curragh chief executive at the end of the season, and the Racing Post understands that a prominent figure at one of Ireland's most successful Group 1 tracks has been approached about taking over in a caretaker capacity for the eight remaining fixtures of 2019, while continuing in their current role at another racecourse.

This weekend will see the penultimate domestic Classic of the season take place at the Curragh when the Irish Oaks spearheads Saturday’s card.
