Caravaggio lives up to superstar billing as he storms home

HE had already clocked the fastest time ever recorded on the Ballydoyle gallops and Caravaggio translated his home work to the racecourse on Sunday as racing's latest superstar stormed home to land the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.

Starting at 1-8 for a Group 1 is unusual and so is being a general 5-2 for the 2,000 Guineas at this stage of the year - but Caravaggio also stands alone for speed on the gallops.

“I have to be careful what I say now, don’t I?” joked Aidan O’Brien after the son of Scat Daddy left his four rivals scattered behind him to give the trainer his 15th win in the race.
