Cambridgeshire winner Wissahickon to kick off Winter Derby campaign on Saturday

Impressive Cambridgeshire winner Wissahickon will have a first crack at securing black type in the Listed Betway Quebec Stakes at Lingfield on Saturday.

The son of Tapit gave John Gosden his fourth triumph in the Rowley Mile cavalry charge in September when beating Mordin by an easy three and three-quarter lengths, despite playing up in the parade ring beforehand.

His groom Asif Nazir had to limp on to the winner’s rostrum to collect his prize having been floored as Wissahickon tried to avoid Frankie Dettori mounting him before the race.
