Three stats to help you find a Wednesday winner

Mick Appleby, trainer in form and with the magical 100 mark within touching distance

There are three meetings on Tuesday at Dundalk, Wolverhampton and Southwell. Here are statistics from each track which could help your punting . . .

Dundalk

Jack Kearney has ridden a pair of winners at Dundalk this season from 11 rides for a level stakes profit of £64 and he rides several big-priced runners at the venue on Wednesday.

Perhaps his most interesting is Satono Chevailer (2.35), who finished fourth over 1m4f at Dundalk in April. That was off an 11lb higher rating and although he has been absent since a pair of below-par efforts on the turf, he is clearly well handicapped should a return to this venue help.

The 7lb claimer also rides Amo Racing debutant Miami Thunder (5.25), who cost 100,000gns as a yearling and is closely related to plenty of Group winners. In a modest race for the level, he could certainly make an impact on debut.

Wolverhampton

Mick Appleby has his string in rampant form, winning with 11 of his last 47 runners. He has plenty of great chances on Wednesday, but his Wolverhampton runners should be focused on, owing to his 50 per cent strike-rate there this year.

His biggest chance is the in-form Politics (3.50), who has won two of his four starts since joining Appleby. He still looked ahead of the handicapper when easily winning at Lingfield this month and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to stop him.

Appleby also saddles (4.25), a 7f course winner two starts ago who was too keen when beaten in a higher grade under a penalty. Back down in grade, he could easily play a hand.

Southwell

GayKelleway maintained her unbeaten record at Southwell in 2023 when Comedian Leader bolted up on Sunday and the trainer, who has won with five of her last 15 runners, relies on Biscoff Joe (5.12) on Wednesday.

A son of Cityscape who cost £5,000 as a two-year-old, he is a half-brother to Stakes winner Hariboux and hurdling winner Tara Iti. He is already gelded ahead of his debut, but he has a sound pedigree and 1m3f looks the right starting point.

25 per cent of Kelleway's three-year-old horses on the all-weather have placed in the last five years and at an each-way price, he is interesting in an eight-runner field.
