Jonathan Burke is 90 per cent sure he will be back in the saddle for Galway where he could attempt for back-to-back wins in thetote.com Galway Plate on Shanahan's Turn.

It has been a torrid 2016 for Burke so far. He suffered two compressed vertebrae fractures in a fall at Thurles in January and sustained fractured vertebrae from a fall on his father's [Liam] gallops in early April. He has been back riding out for the last fortnight and hopes to get the green light to return from Paddy Kenny on July 19.

Burke said: “I feel great and have been riding out for the last two weeks. I have been up and down to Santry a couple of times a week for physio and gym work. I am seeing a guy called Enda King there who is excellent. My next appointment is with Paddy Kenny on July 19 and the way I am feeling now, I would be 90 per cent sure he will give me the go-ahead for Galway.
