William Buick, who had the choice between stablemates Soliloquy and Wild Illusion in Sunday's Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket, has plumped for the former, the filly on whom he won the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes over seven furlongs just over a fortnight ago.

The rider, who is due to partner Craven Stakes winner and general 5-1 shot Masar in the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday, revealed he would stick with Soliloquy, who is second favourite for the race at around 6-1.

Wild Illusion, who won the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac when last seen and also runs in the Godolphin blue, can be backed at 8-1.

Buick, who has yet to win either Newmarket Classic, said: "I will be riding Soliloquy. She has always been a lovely filly and won the Nell Gwyn well.

"However, Wild Illusion has the Group 1 form at two, so has the class edge as far as we know.

"I think both of them will run very well – it's great for the team to go into a Classic with two live chances."

James Doyle now rides Wild Illusion and said on At The Races: "She is a filly I know well – I've ridden her in all her starts and I'm very pleased to be on her."

The last horse to win the 1,000 Guineas after triumphing in the Nell Gwyn was Speciosa in 2006.

Dual Group 1-winning two-year-old Happily, who represents Aidan O'Brien, hasn't been seen since finishing last in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar in November, but heads the market and is a best-priced 5-2 favourite.
