William Buick makes a low profile return to saddle at Nottingham on Tuesday evening exactly a month to the day since he was last seen in action winning the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes on Hawkbill.

Unlike the latter, neither of his two comeback rides are for his employers Godolphin although he is scheduled to don the all-blue at Yarmouth the following evening where he has four booked mounts.

The 28-year-old, who has ridden 32 winners this season, has a lot of catching up to do in the jockeys' title race from joint 20th place following the completion of a 15-day ban (later extended to 30) for playing a major role in interference in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly on June 19. Buick and his mount, the Yohann Gourraud-trained Highlands Queen, were said to be in the thick of the action which led to French champion jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot being unseated from his mount Armande. Initially placed eighth, Highlands Queen was later disqualified and placed last.
