Leaders from across British racing will on Tuesday begin a pivotal two-day meeting which it is hoped will initiate a major step towards improving the sport's prospects and securing its future in the face of mounting challenges.

Talks among 18 senior figures from across racing's many interest groups will take place in London with the aim of drawing up the principles for a long-term industry strategy.

The discussions will take place against a backdrop of problems for British racing, including internationally uncompetitive prize-money, concerns about a drain of equine talent abroad, soaring costs for businesses and declining field sizes and attendances.
