Who is entered for the Arkle, Turners and Brown Advisory Novices' Chases?

Sir Gerhard has the additional options of the Arkle, Brown Advisory and the Turners Novices' Chase after the latest Cheltenham Festival entries were revealed on Tuesday.

The Cheveley Park Stud-owned eight-year-old has yet to run over fences and was last seen when losing his unbeaten record over hurdles in a Grade 1 novice at the Punchestown festival in April.

Sir Gerhard, who was entered in the Unibet Champion Hurdle and Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle last week, is a dual Cheltenham Festival winner, landing the Champion Bumper in 2021 and Ballymore Novices' Hurdle last year.

The three-time Grade 1 winner could reappear at the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown next month and has entries in the Goffs Irish Arkle, Ladbrokes Novice Chase and the Chanelle Pharma Irish Champion Hurdle.

Big-race favourite Jonbon is among 26 entries for the Arkle and 16 of those horses are trained in Ireland. Sir Gerhard is among eight possibles for Willie Mullins, with stablemates Appreciate It, Dysart Dynamo and El Fabiolo also entered.

Haddex Des Obeaux, who on Tuesday morning was raised 10lb by the handicapper for his impressive Edward Courage Cup Handicap Chase win at Warwick on Saturday, was entered in the 2m novice chase by Gary Moore.

Sir Gerhard is once again joined by Appreciate It, Dysart Dynamo and El Fabiolo in the Turners entries, along with ante-post favourite Mighty Potter. Star mare Impervious, who was as short as 7-1 for the race, has not been entered, with 41 horses in contention for the race at this early closing stage.

Thyme Hill and The Real Whacker are leading British-trained contenders in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, with Gaillard Du Mesnil, James Du Berlais and Ramillies among eight entries for Mullins.

Classic Getaway, who was as short as 12-1 for the Brown Advisory, did not feature in the 34 entries for the 3m event.

Gaillard Du Mesnil has other options in the Turners and the National Hunt Chase, with fellow market principals Chemical Energy and Gerri Colombe among 37 entries in the latter.

There was a marginal increase in Arkle entries compared to last year – up by two – but the Brown Advisory and National Hunt Chase attracted the lowest number of entries this century and the Turners yielded the lowest entry in the race's 13-year history.

The Brown Advisory was down by 13 entries, the National Hunt Chase attracted 11 fewer entries and the Turners dropped by three on last year.
