Tiger Roll proves himself the best Grand National hero in years
He might not have posted the best figure of the three-day meeting, but in terms of Grand National winners Tiger Roll (174+) replaces 2015 hero Many Clouds as the highest-rated winner of recent years.
Rated 171+ when running away with the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham last month, he confirmed himself a much improved performer this year, returning a figure 11lb superior to last season's National-winning mark.
The best figure of the week came courtesy of the hugely impressive Min (180+) in Friday's Melling Chase. Disappointing when restrained in the Champion Chase, he was allowed to bowl along in the lead at Aintree and registered a career-best figure. Only Sprinter Sacre (190) and Don Cossack (181) have earned better winning figures in the race in the past decade.
