Three reasons why hotpot Enable could be vulnerable

1. She is taking on older opposition for the first time
In her short but brilliant career Enable has yet to take on horses outside her own age group. She might well prove up to it, but this is the acid test for the Classic generation. When John Gosden's Taghrooda won in 2014 her opposition had won only four Group 1s between them and she went off at 2-1. Enable's rivals can claim ten, including an Eclipse, two Prince of Wales's Stakes and an Irish Derby, and she's much shorter in the betting.

2. The quick turnaround

The Irish Oaks was just two weeks ago and, while Enable won it easily, the closing splits that had the sectionals boys salivating cannot have been recorded without serious effort. None of the other three-year-old fillies to win the King George – Dahlia, Pawneese and Taghrooda – took in both the Oaks and Irish Oaks.

3. The rain-softened ground
Given she is by Nathaniel out of a mare who won on soft ground, the easy conditions at Ascot are unlikely to be a problem. That said, Enable has yet to run on anything slower than good and until a horse proves its ability in the conditions, there has to be a question mark.
