Ryan Moore makes few misjudgements. But if his ride in defeat on The Gurkha at Royal Ascot was one of them you can be almost certain it will not be happening again in today’s Coral-Eclipse.

One moment arguably the greatest rider of his generation was in control. The next he was not as Awtaad blocked his way and Galileo Gold flew off with the St James’s Palace Stakes.

Moore’s response was a battery of winners in Berkshire. But this afternoon comes the proper chance to bury the memory as he climbs on board The Gurkha once more.
