It's not your party and they don't need your help to celebrate

One of the joys of jumps racing, and the festival in particular, is seeing the victorious owners, trainer, family and friends, crowding on to that precious green sward to welcome back their winner.

The appearance of someone with no connection to the winning connections joining in the party is not the greatest crime in the world, but it is a concern.

It raises questions as to whether security for a horse returning to the winner's enclosure, pre-weigh-in, pre-drugs test, should be just as stringent as it is for those attempting to enter the stabling area before racing. And, as with the drunken weighing room assault on Aidan Coleman at Southwell in 2015, it raises concerns about the safety of all the participants.
