'He's the type of horse you need for it' - Dan Skelton eyeing another Coral Gold Cup strike as entries are revealed
Dan Skelton won the Coral Gold Cup last year and reckons he has another leading contender for the famous handicap in Midnight River, who the sponsors were quick to install as their 8-1 second favourite after entries were released on Tuesday.
Skelton revelled in the success of Le Milos in last season's Newbury handicap that was once known as the Hennessy and also has Galia Des Liteaux, Protektorat, Sail Away and Shan Blue engaged in the December 2 highlight, but the yard's main hope appears to be the Frank McAleavy-owned Midnight River, who won Grade 3 handicaps at Cheltenham and Aintree last season.
"It's very much on his agenda," Skelton said. "I've put Protektorat in just in case the Betfair Chase, which is the week before and what he's going for, is off. Galia Des Liteaux is also entered, but we'll see how she gets on this weekend at Cheltenham first.
