Brendan Powell out to emulate his father in Grand National on Fiddlerontheroof
Brendan Powell has the family bragging rights when it comes to Cheltenham Festival winners and hopes to level the scores with his father in the Grand National next week when partnering leading British hope Fiddlerontheroof.
The Colin Tizzard-trained eight-year-old is a general 16-1 shot to land jump racing’s most famous event, one his father celebrated victory in aboard the David Elsworth-trained Rhyme ‘n’ Reason in 1988.
Fiddlerontheroof landed the Tolworth as a novice hurdler in 2020 and finished a 40-1 second to Monkfish in last season’s Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, but he heads to Aintree on the back of a career-best campaign.
