Britain's next prime minister Boris Johnson has not had much to say on the subject of horseracing but his actions – starting with a cabinet reshuffle – could have a major impact on the sport and the gambling industry.

Johnson, who was elected as the new leader of the Conservative Party after beating rival Jeremy Hunt by 92,153 votes to 46,656 on Tuesday, is set to enter 10 Downing Street as prime minister on Wednesday.

While he has said little about racing, Johnson did enter the debate about FOBTs in 2015 while Mayor of London, when he described them as "the scourge of our high streets and a very bad thing for our community".
