Ballyoisin produced one of the season's most impressive jumping exhibitions when winning the Grade 2 Fortria Chase at Navan last month and trainer Enda Bolger is hoping his charge can repeat the feat this Sunday at Cork.

The bold-jumping eight-year-old is on course for a crack at the Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase (Grade 2), with Bolger admitting his surprise at how well his star chaser coped with testing ground on his last start.

"No one was more surprised than me with how well he handled the ground at Navan," he said of JP McManus' performer, who has been very effective on sounder surfaces during the summer months.

"He was brilliant last time when his jumping was fantastic. When he's on his game, he really fires over them."

Bolger added of the joint-sixth highest-rated chaser in Ireland: "We're happy with where we are with him going into Sunday, he's won around the track before. He has options further on from this at Christmas but we'll take this step first."

Ballyoisin also holds an entry for the 2m1f Paddy's Rewards Club Chase (Grade 1) at Leopardstown on December 27, priced at 6-1 with the race sponsors behind 6-4 favourite Chacun Pour Soi.

It could be a big week in store for Bolger as Yanworth bids to continue his march towards the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, heading to the Cotswolds on Friday for a first run over the unique course.

The former Grade 1 regular over hurdles for Alan King made a successful transition to his new discipline when winning over Punchestown's banks course last month.

The Limerick handler said of the nine-year-old, who is a general 6-1 chance for the Cross Country feature in March: "He heads to Cheltenham for Friday next week and could be joined by Blue Templar and Josies Orders.

"I was happy with him at Punchestown but this is going to be a different test. It's obviously a handicap too, and all roads lead towards March with him. Hopefully, he can handle the track."
