Saeed Bin Suroor has never hidden his desire to land a Melbourne Cup for Godolphin and, while Charlie Appleby has been flying the flag so far in Australia, Bin Suroor hopes to have the last laugh at Flemington on Tuesday.

The Newmarket-based trainer arrived in Melbourne on Thursday and was yesterday on hand at the Werribee quarantine centre to oversee preparations for Secret Number and Beautiful Romance.

Both remain on course for the Melbourne Cup, with local riders Stephen Baster and Damian Lane booked to partner Secret Number and Beautiful Romance respectively.
