Jim Best's solicitor has warned the case against his client will end up being sent for another rehearing unless it is delayed until after the publication of Christopher Quinlan QC's report into the sport's disciplinary system as a row over the timing of the case intensified on Monday.

The rehearing of the BHA’s non-trier case against Best is scheduled to commence the week beginning September 19, less than two weeks before the deadline for publishing Quinlan’s findings on September 30.

Best’s solicitor Harry Stewart-Moore said it was in the BHA’s interests as much as his own client's to delay proceedings, claiming the sport’s governing body runs the risk of undermining any judgement handed down by the disciplinary panel.
