Ball is in panel's court as Jim Best rehearing ends

Day five in the BHA's legal lair and the Jim Best rehearing is entering its final furlong. Whether the lawyers involved are being genuinely pushed out is, of course, a matter for independent panelists to determine, but they certainly give every indication of fighting out a driving finish.

There are two final witnesses set to be called in the final session of this marathon judicial drama. One of them is jockey Jamie Moore, who has wisely decided not to appear before the panel but deliver his testimony by phone. Except he is driving to Doncaster and has, apparently, got lost.

After several phone calls trying to arrange an appropriate moment to speak it is decided we can simply accept his evidence from the first hearing, in February, an admirable idea which might have sped up this entire process.
