Baby Baaeed set to hit the racecourse as a juvenile - unlike his brother
Superstar Baaeed was unraced as a juvenile but his two-year-old half-brother Naqeeb may hit the racecourse next month after recently starting fast work at William Haggas's stable.
Naqeeb is by Nathaniel, sire of this year's Derby winner Desert Crown, and has been with Haggas for five or six weeks after arriving from Shadwell's pre-training centre at Snarehill in Norfolk.
Richard Hills, assistant racing manager to Shadwell Estates, said: "Baaeed's brother is coming along nicely and has done some swinging canters lately. He could be out at the end of September or October, probably over a mile, if all goes well."
Next in line for Baaeed's dam, Aghareed, is a yearling colt by Night Of Thunder who is at Derrinstown Stud in Ireland, and she is in foal to Sea The Stars, thereby carrying a full-brother or sister to Baaeed.
Aghareed was campaigned only as a three-year-old by John Hammond in France in 2012 when she won twice including a Listed race at Longchamp from just five outings.
As well as Baaeed, the Kingmambo mare has enjoyed a stellar year with his elder brother Hukum winning the Group 1 Coronation Cup at Epsom in June for Owen Burrows.
On the wider family tree, Hills added: "They like the yearling colt by Night Of Thunder but there's no foal as the mare had a year off. She's in foal to Sea The Stars, which is exciting for Sheikha Hissa and the team as you can imagine."
Hills does not expect a decision on Baaeed's next target imminently and indicated the Shadwell team would be guided by Haggas. "We're the passengers. We're not about to start driving the train," he said.
On the namings, Baaeed means 'remote' and Naqeeb translates as 'leader.'
