Atzeni back on Stradivarius as countdown begins to possible swansong at York

Andrea Atzeni, who keeps the ride on Stradivarius in next Friday's Group 2 Lonsdale Cup at York, came in to ride the retiring star in what could be his final piece of work on the Al Bahathri Polytrack on Wednesday morning.
The eight-year-old’s farewell tour was extended by three weeks after his gallant second in the Goodwood Cup and he will be out to capture the Knavesmire feature for a fourth time following victories in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
James Doyle keeps the ride on stablemate Mishriff in the Group 1 Juddmonte Stakes next Wednesday and dropped in to put the five-year-old through a similar exercise.
