Groundstaff at Ascot, Brighton and Cartmel have been honoured by the Racecourse Association in its annual awards.

Ascot, which will host Qipco British Champions Day on Saturday, was the winner in the dual-purpose category, with the RCA highlighting the course's "pioneering approach to research and progression" that included improvements to the unsaddling enclosure.

In the Flat category, Brighton took the prize thanks in part to improvements made to its racing surface, while Cartmel claimed top honours in the jumps category after work to widen the course and improve drainage and irrigation.
