Galopin Des Champs gets green light for Sunday from 'happy' Willie Mullins
Galopin Des Champs, arguably the most exciting jumper in training right now, has been given the green light to tackle the BoyleSports Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Sunday by Willie Mullins, who said the superstar novice has been feeling no ill effects from his dramatic departure at the Cheltenham Festival.
The six-year-old was in splendid isolation when stumbling a stride after the final fence of the Turners Novices' Chase last month and is already vying for favouritism for the 2023 Cheltenham Gold Cup at 4-1 alongside this year's runaway winner A Plus Tard.
Mullins told the Racing Post on Wednesday: "It's a two-and-a-half-mile Grade 1, so it looks the right thing for him to do. Nothing untoward has happened since Cheltenham and I've been happy with him but, as with all these things, you never know how something like that will affect a horse until they run.
