Arc hopes Alpinista and Mishriff out early to beat the endless traffic chaos

On a clear day it is possible to see Ely Cathedral from the top of the Limekilns training grounds and also the neighbouring Al Bahathri Polytrack, where it was easy to pick out Alpinista as she breezed up to the trees in a solo exercise under Luke Morris.

Sir Mark Prescott was one of a number of local trainers away at the Goffs Sales but he will have received glowing reports from his number two William Butler ahead of Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. It remains to be seen if the master of Heath House makes the trip to Paris in person.

Buick on Arc mount

William Buick got acquainted with his Arc mount Mishriff in a one-mile exercise on the round gallop just after dawn broke at 6.30am. The five-year-old has plenty of experience of the right-handed facility and has used it as a springboard to big-race wins in the past including two in France in 2020.
