Another jockey retainer ends as Callum Shepherd and the Gredleys split

Jockey Callum Shepherd has become the latest retained rider not to have his contract renewed after splitting with his long-standing owners and backers Tim and Bill Gredley.

Shepherd's move follows shortly after Andrea Atzeni's long association as first jockey to Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum ended, while Christophe Soumillon had his lengthy contract with the Aga Khan terminated after the incident at Saint-Cloud in which he elbowed Rossa Ryan off his horse.

Since Shepherd was appointed, there has been a change at the Gredley operation, which is now equally as involved over jumps as on the Flat.
