Guineas weekend is frequently a key marker in the development of the ante-post markets for Epsom but it was away from the Classic action that Mohaafeth played what many considered the best card with regard to the Cazoo Derby on June 5.

A comfortable winner of the four-runner Newmarket Stakes, the son of Frankel is now vying for second-favouritism with Ballysax Stakes winner Bolshoi Ballet at a best-priced 8-1, while trainer William Haggas was in no mood to put anyone off the notion of him running at Epsom in the immediate aftermath of his five-length success.

Mohaafeth races in the Shadwell Estates colours of the late Hamdan Al Maktoum and racing manager Angus Gold was as taken as most other onlookers by what he witnessed.
