Andrew Braithwaite announced as new chief executive of British Racing School
Andrew Braithwaite will take over from Grant Harris as chief executive of the British Racing School next month.
Braithwaite has been promoted from his role as finance director at the Newmarket-based charity and will start his new role on October 17.
He worked for Clive Brittain, Mary Reveley and William Haggas before studying economics at Reading University and qualifying as an accountant with KPMG.
The former point-to-point rider, who joined the British Racing School in 2014, was a finalist in the Community Award category at this year's Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff awards.
Braithwaite, who completed the Horseracing Industry MBA in 2017, said: “It has been a privilege during my time at the British Racing School so far to work with so many talented and hardworking people who share my vision for the school and the young people we develop.
“I’m hugely looking forward to stepping into this new role and working together to continuously improve and expand on the brilliant work already being done. In particular, I’m excited to have the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the many excellent trainers we work with across the country who provide fantastic opportunities for young people within this sport we all love so much.”
Harris, who is leaving his position after nine years in the role, praised Braithwaite’s work during his time at the charity.
Harris said: “Over the last nine years I have watched Andrew develop into a respected leader who can really deliver for the school and all those young people who come through our gates. We have achieved a huge amount together during this time and I’m confident I’m leaving the British Racing School in safe hands.”
