Missed Approach, who gave Warren Greatrex a career highlight when landing last season's Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival, has jumping's biggest prize firmly on his agenda with the trainer targeting the Randox Health Grand National.

That was the plan Greatrex mapped out on Thursday when entertaining around 170 invited guests and owners at his Uplands base, which was made famous by Lambourn legend Fred Winter.

The ambitious 43-year-old, who paraded about 50 of the 80 horses he has to go to war with, enjoyed a fine campaign last term, registering a half-century of winners for the fourth successive season and netting nearly £550,000 in prize-money.
