Altior looks to be following in Sprinter's footstep

Altior (175+) posted the standout figure of the weekend when running out a very easy winner of Newbury's Grade 2 Betfair Exchange Chase and, as far as the two mile division is concerned, now only has Champion Chase favourite Douvan (178+) rated above him.

Connections are understandably reticent to make comparisons with the recently retired Sprinter Sacre and Altior still has a long way to go to match the dual Champion Chaser's peak figure of 190.

However, Sprinter Sacre took an RPR of 171 into the Arkle after landing the corresponding Newbury race in 2012 and you would have to say that, at this relatively early stage of his chasing career, Altior is on schedule to scale similar heights.
