The six shortlists for the 2021 Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards have been revealed, with more than 200 nominations whittled down to 60.

Workers in yards across Britain are in the running for the six prize categories after 206 nominations were originally received from across the racing and breeding industries.

There is extra reason for the 60 people on the shortlists to celebrate this year. In a bid to spread the prize-money more widely, given the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, any applicant who made the shortlist but does not progress to the final three in each category will receive £250 to mark the significant achievement of making the last ten.

The awards, now in their 17th year, recognise and reward the skills, commitment and contribution of more than 10,000 stud and stable staff in England, Scotland and Wales.

The judging panel will now draw up a list of three finalists for each of the categories, which will be announced in the new year. Due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19, the entire judging process is likely to be conducted remotely.

Rather than at the usual awards ceremony, the prize winners will be announced at an interactive virtual event, which will be broadcast live and free to air on Racing TV on Monday, February 22.

A celebratory event is being planned for the summer, subject to government guidance.
