Albert House Stables on market as Spencer moves closer to yard switch
Newmarket trainer Richard Spencer's upcoming move to Sefton Lodge Stables has prompted his backer Phil Cunningham to put his current base at Albert House on the market with a price tag of £1.4 million.
After securing the purchase of his new 50-box premises in February, Cunningham was in two minds whether to keep Albert House as an overflow yard but has now put up the 'for sale' sign.
Cunningham has spent around £1m restoring Albert House, which is one of the oldest yards in Newmarket, to its former glory after buying the property in a poor state of repair three years ago.
The yard is on the market with agent Windsor Clive International and, as well as 23 boxes, it has a three-bedroom trainer's house and a stable flat.
Spencer, who trained a Royal Ascot winner from the yard when Rajasinghe won the Group 2 Coventry Stakes last year, said: "Phil had thought about keeping Albert House after we move to Sefton Lodge but he's now going to sell.

"We also have Swynford Paddocks Stud at Six Mile Bottom, so we can move horses there if we need to."
