Many Clouds did not manage to emulate Red Rum by winning back-to-back Grand Nationals in the spring, but trainer Oliver Sherwood is hoping a breathing operation can help the nine-year-old match the Aintree legend by regaining the crown this season.

An impressive winner of the race last year, Many Clouds was well beaten behind Rule The World when aiming for his slice of history in April, which left connections pondering surgery.

That was performed this month and Sherwood is optimistic it will have the desired effect.
