Agent Hind eyes another 2,000 after Moore reaches milestone

Ryan Moore's agent on Thursday said he wants the jockey to have doubled his score before he hangs up his saddle as he praised the achievement of riding 2,000 British Flat winners.

Moore reached his latest milestone when he partnered the Richard Hannon-trained Billesdon Brook to victory at Kempton on Wednesday, putting himself behind only Frankie Dettori and Joe Fanning among licensed jockeys who have hit the landmark score.

Tony Hind, who has managed Moore since he was an apprentice, said: "I think it is a wonderful achievement in just over 15 years of being a rider. I am very proud of him. It is nothing more than he deserved. I'd like to know how many Group winners make up that 2,000.

"I am honoured to be his agent. I have looked after him since he started claiming 7lb and what he has achieved in that time is immense. Now he has reached his first 2,000, I want to achieve another 2,000 by the time he retires."

Moore, 33, started his career as an amateur riding his first winner in a handicap hurdle 17 years ago at Towcester. By 2003 he was champion Flat apprentice, becoming champion Flat jockey in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Having won the Derby twice, partnered eight Breeders' Cup winners and captured a Melbourne Cup, and as first jockey to the Coolmore partners, he is recognised as one of the planet's leading riders, scooping the world's best jockey titles in 2014 and 2016.

Aidan O'Brien, for whom Moore principally rides, said: "We're all absolutely delighted for Ryan. It's an unbelievable achievement."

Trainer Roger Varian, who provided Moore with a Kempton double in the form of Gibbs Hill, said: "I'm not from the Lester Piggott era, but Ryan Moore has to be one of the best riders there has ever been and he is the ultimate professional to go with it. I hope he stays sound and healthy, so we can enjoy his riding for many years to come."

Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby added: "It was obviously a fine feat to achieve and you won't see a more professional rider at present - he's a credit to the profession, which is partly why he achieves what he achieves. Knowing Ryan, I'm sure he will be charging along to the next 1,000 winners and we wish him the best of luck."

Classic-winning trainer Andrew Balding said: "He's a sensational jockey and is still relatively young. He's an extraordinary talent."
