A week of classy jumps action comes to a head at Cheltenham and Punchestown
Monday
Following Doncaster's meeting and the conclusion of the Breeders' Cup on Saturday, this week feels like one in which jump racing truly takes over.
At Kempton, the in-form Kim Bailey looks to hold a leading hand in the Pertemps qualifier with Younevercall (2.48), while at Carlisle, the promising Champagne Well will bid to get off the mark over fences at the second attempt (1.20).
Jumps action also comes via an eight-race card at Chepstow as well as all-weather fixtures from Southwell and Dundalk.
Tuesday
Talented chasers Master Tommytucker and Precious Cargo are set to clash in an intermediate chase (12.45) that headlines a seven-race card at Huntingdon.
Yet the race of the day may come from Hereford, where a mix of promising and hardy handicap chasers will clash in the 2m5f Pertemps Handicap Chase (2.07).
Elsewhere Fairyhouse hosts a handicap hurdle named in honour of the much-loved JT McNamara (2.00), while Lingfield holds its second jumps meeting of the season.
There is also Flat action on the all-weather from Newcastle.
Wednesday
We could get a second look at the talented Stormy Ireland in the Listed mares' novice chase at Bangor (1.20). The six-year-old was beaten at Newton Abbot on her first start for Paul Nicholls since leaving Willie Mullins when last seen.
At Exeter, Fiddlerontheroof is in line for his second start over fences in the 2m3f beginners' chase (3.10), in which the exciting Sporting John also holds an entry.
There is jumps action north of the border from Ayr, and all-weather cards from Dundalk and Kempton.
Thursday
It is all about the Clonmel Oil Chase (3.00), where the likes of Kemboy, Magic Of Light, Cilaos Emery, Battleoverdoyen and Snow Falcon could all lock horns. The Grade 2 is to set to be covered live on ITV4.
The Listed mares' chase (2.25) on the same card will also be worth a glance as there could be clues about early contenders for the new mares' chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Benie Des Dieux could tackle mares' chase as Mullins supports festival switch
In Britain the action is less high-octane, but there are several competitive chases from Taunton, where the ITV4 cameras will also be, and what could be a high-class field in the introductory hurdle at Ludlow (1.40).
Friday
Cheltenham's November meeting starts off with a potentially mouthwatering cross-country rematch between Easysland and Tiger Roll (3.00). The former dominated Tiger Roll at the Cheltenham Festival last time, winning by 17 lengths.
The Grade 2 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (3.35) has gone to talented performers such as Peregrine Run and Coneygree in previous seasons and this year's edition is sure to throw up a few clues.
Away from Cheltenham, Newcastle hosts seven races and jump racing returns to Southwell for the first time since September following the conclusion of a BHA investigation into deaths at the track.
Saturday
All eyes are once again on Cheltenham, with the Paddy Power Gold Cup (2.15) the clear highlight of another excellent card.
A host of big names will be attendance, not least Simply The Betts, who will be looking to confirm his status as one of the most progressive chasers in training following festival success in March.
The Triumph Hurdle trial (12.30) and the Grade 2 novice chase (1.40) are more than adequate supporting acts on a card chock-full of quality.
Elsewhere, Punchestown hosts a valuable 2m4f handicap chase (12.50), while Uttoxeter and Wetherby also host intriguing cards.
Sunday
The final day of a blockbuster three days at Cheltenham features no less than five races at Listed level or higher, most notably of all the Grade 3 Greatwood Hurdle (3.00).
The Shloer Chase (2.25), won by Defi De Seuil last year, and the Supreme trial (3.35) will be informative as regards future festival prospects, while the concluding bumper (4.05) will surely feature a few very smart types.
Away from Cheltenham, there is Grade 1 action in Ireland with the Morgiana Hurdle (2.10) at Punchestown. Gordon Elliott will be looking to claim a first success in a race won by Willie Mullins for the last nine years.
