Training partnerships are set to be formally recognised in Britain after the BHA revealed it is taking steps to allow two names to appear on licences.

Harry Fry, who shares the running of his Dorset yard with his wife Ciara, is among the trainers who expressed support for the initiative, which is commonly used in Australia where 19 of the 64 entries for next month's Lexus Melbourne Cup have more than one licensed trainer.

A BHA spokesperson on Thursday said: "We've had feedback from a number of trainers that joint licences are something they would be keen to see.
