3,000 winners: John Gosden enters rarefied company after hitting landmark

John Gosden joined the elite of the elite by becoming only the tenth trainer in history to win 3,000 races in Britain.

The first trainer to reach the milestone was Martin Pipe, whose record as Britain's winningmost trainer was beaten by Richard Hannon snr and has since last year been held by Mark Johnston.

Of the select group to have trained 3,000 winners in Britain, Gosden is one of seven to have done so exclusively on the Flat. He operates on a Flat-only licence and emulates Sir Henry Cecil by never having a runner over jumps.
