2022 York Ebor tips: Friday's best bets from our Racing Post experts
Day three of the York Ebor festival is here – but who do our top tipsters fancy most?
Marshman
By Steve Boow
Race:3.00 York (Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes)
Odds: 3-1
The engrossing rematch between Royal Scotsman and Noble Style could go either way, but a strong rival has suddenly emerged in the shape of Marshman, who jumped firmly into the Gimcrack picture with his big performance at Thirsk last Friday.
The manner of that win suggests he's in blinding form right now and well up to making his mark at this level, with further progress on the cards.
The Platinum Queen
By Robbie Wilders
Race: 3.35 York (Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes)
Odds: 4-1
The Nunthorpe isn't an open goal for two-year-olds despite the fact they receive a huge amount of weight from the older horses, but The Platinum Queen isn't a normal two-year-old.
The daughter of Cotai Glory looked rapid when breaking the course record over five furlongs at Glorious Goodwood last time and already boasts a course-and-distance success at York two starts back, so the track is fine. I fancy the bold campaigning can pay dividends.
Shampion
By Paul Kealy
Race: 4.10 York (Assured Data Protection EBF Fillies' Handicap)
Odds: 7-2
The prolific Amanzoe heads the market for William Haggas, but he had a short-priced favourite beaten in the race last year and Shampion makes more appeal.
She is far less exposed, has improved with every run, and really seemed to relish a step up to just short of this 1m2½f trip when a runaway winner earlier this month. A mark of 84 for her handicap debut looks tasty.
