1,000 Guineas favourite Quadrilateral supplemented for Friday's Fillies' Mile
Quadrilateral, the next potential star off Khalid Abdullah's famed production line who stormed to the top of the betting for next year's Qipco 1,000 Guineas after a convincing victory at Newbury last month, will have her credentials examined in Friday's bet365 Fillies' Mile after connections decided to pay £40,000 to add her to the Group 1.
The homebred, who is trained by Roger Charlton, went into plenty of notebooks when winning at Newbury on her debut in August and followed up in fine style a month later when scooting clear by nine lengths.
That devastating display meant bookmakers made her the general 10-1 favourite for the 1,000 Guineas.
Before then though, she will step up to a mile at Newmarket, where she is set to face the Hugo Palmer-trained May Hill winner Powerful Breeze, who was also supplemented on Saturday morning.
Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Love and Cayenne Pepper, unbeaten in three, are other possibles in a race that has a rich recent roll of honour; its last four winners – Minding, Rhododendron, Laurens and Iridessa – graduated to further glory at the highest level in their three-year-old campaigns.
That will be the goal for Quadrilateral, a daughter of Abdullah's world champion Frankel out of Nimble Thimble, a half-sister to Charlton's brilliant 2003 Coventry winner Three Valleys.
Reflecting at the time on the juvenile's impressive success, Charlton said: "I hoped she would win. Her work has been very good and she has matured a lot. When she won on her debut she did it on ability – she wasn't fully fit, so we knew there was better to come."
