Sweetspots: soft ground can see John Caesar return to his best

John Caesar has mostly run well this summer on unsuitably fast ground and returns to the scene of his latest win with more suitable conditions underfoot. He’s 6lb lower than when winning this race (6.00 Beverley) last year and, with ace amateur Pat Millman again
doing the steering, he’s a must bet.
Bally Lagan (5.40 Warwick) makes his seasonal debut in this race for the third year in a row. He gets his preferred good ground and bids to improve on last year’s narrow defeat off 2lb lower.

John Gosden and Frankie Dettori are an eyecatching 41% when teaming up at Chelmsford and the Italian maestro makes the trip for just one ride on Tuesday. Handmaiden (6.15) takes on some likely improvers but her novice form looks strong.
