Winning Dreamer, a member of one of New Zealand’s most celebrated equine families, is ready to retain his unbeaten record when contesting the Class 3 6f sprint handicap (10.10) on a cracking card at Sha Tin.

As Hong Kong cautiously welcomes crowds back to the track, Winning Dreamer looks set to be one of its stars on an important day, though he must overcome the widest draw in the 12-runner field and cope with another 10lb hike in the ratings.

On what he has produced so far, the son of Deep Field is more than capable of handling the stiff rise as he makes his way through the ranks and he should also easily take the step up in trip in his stride.

Crucially, he needs luck in running, which requires jockey Vincent Ho to map his way into contention without being posted wide at the first turn. Ping Hai Bravo looks his biggest danger.

Winning Dreamer’s grand-dam Marquise is a Group 1-winning sibling of Octagonal, who won 14 races in Australia in the 1990s. So far, the Frankie Lor-trained runner is living up to his bloodline in promising style.

Amazing One Plus shocked locals when he produced a mighty run to finish second at 200-1 on his Hong Kong debut in May. He has not raced since but has trialled pleasingly, so much so that Zac Purton has snapped up the ride.

He formerly raced as Hazapour and won the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial and finished fifth in Masar’s Derby at Epsom. On a poignant note in a sad week for racing, he won his maiden under Pat Smullen at Galway in 2017.

In the toughest Class 2 mile handicap (10.45) seen for some time, Amazing One Plus is selected to register an important win for trainer Danny Shum, though there are a string of dangers including Assimilate, Excellent Proposal, Lakeshore Eagle and Righteous Doctrine.

Earlier on the card, the consistent Chevalier Prince is tipped to make the most of his feather weight and notch his second course-and-distance win in the Class 3 7f handicap (9.35).
