Low key start for Enable's sister Entitle with debut sixth at Newmarket

Filly was having first start five months earlier than her illustrious sibling

Entitle, a Dansili half-sister to the brilliant Enable, got her career off to an unremarkable start with a debut sixth at Newmarket's July course on Saturday.

With Enable not having made her debut until the November of her juvenile season, over a mile at Newcastle in 2016, it would not have been wise to expect too much in the way of fireworks from Entitle in the 7f novice stakes.

Having worn a hood in the parade ring, Entitle was slowly away from the stalls and took a while to find her stride. The filly, also trained by John Gosden, was well held and brought home sensibly by jockey Robert Havlin, who was far from disappointed with the run and took encouragement from the closing stages.

"She fell out of the stalls and was a bit green," he said. "It took her a while to get going but I couldn't pull her up after the line."

There is more to come yet from the filly's dam, Concentric, with Juddmonte having a yearling filly by Frankel and a colt foal by Sea The Stars too look forward to, while the mare returned to Enable's sire Nathaniel this year.

Saturday's race had an impressive winner, meanwhile, in the shape of Neverland Rock, recently switched from Jeremy Noseda's yard to Richard Hannon's by owners Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

A son of No Nay Never, he had made an eyecatching debut at Newbury earlier this month and traveled strongly for Pat Dobbs en route to becoming his Coolmore Stud-based sire's ninth first-crop winner of the year.

The winner was a €480,000 purchase by Kerri Radcliffe from last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville.
