Coolmore's sophomore sire Declaration Of War to stand in Japan next year
His first three-year-olds include Olmedo and Actress
Top ten second-crop sire Declaration Of War will stand at Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan, which is owned by the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association (JBBA), for the 2019 breeding season.
The nine-year-old son of War Front is the second-leading sire of his class by number of black-type winners this year, with six, among them the Poule d'Essai des Poulains winner Olmedo.
Other Group/Graded winners for the sire include Speed Franco, winner of the Grade 3 Dania Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park; Actress, who won her second Pattern race in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh; and Opry, who won the Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga.
All of Declaration of War's black-type winners have so far won on turf.
Declaration Of War took the 2013 Juddmonte International Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes, finished second in the Eclipse Stakes, and was third in the Sussex Stakes. In his last start, he placed third in that year's Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita. He retired with seven wins from 13 starts and earnings of £1,170,507.
The stallion entered stud at Coolmore Stud in Ireland and shuttled to Coolmore Australia in 2014. He was relocated to Ashford Stud in 2015 and stood for $25,000 this year. He is expected to ship to Japan in late November and be at Shizunai after quarantine in late December.
His 2019 stud fee has not yet been announced.
