Ruler Of The World on top as Iridessa storms to Fillies' Mile success
The son of Galileo became the second freshman to supply a Group 1 winner in 2018
Iridessa caused something of an upset when landing the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket on Friday, but in so doing so she gave the stud career of freshman sire Ruler Of The World a mighty boost by supplying the unheralded stallion with a first elite winner.
Despite boasting a race record that includes victory in the 2013 Derby, Coolmore's Ruler Of The World has been something of an underdog among this year's first-season sires, primarily due to the fact his debut crop contains just 44 foals, according to Weatherbys data.

Iridessa is one of just four successful offspring from Ruler Of The World's first batch of two-year-olds. However, with only 14 runners on the board that represents a winners-to-runners strike rate of almost 29 per cent.
The Fillies' Mile success of Iridessa saw Ruler Of The World, a half-brother to Duke Of Marmalade, join the likes of Frankel, Intello, Nathaniel, New Approach and Teofilo as a sire son of Galileo to supply a Group 1 winner at stud.
Iridessa is the sixth foal out of the Danehill mare Senta's Dream, who joined the Whisperview Trading broodmare band when signed for by the BBA Ireland at just 14,000gns at the 2013 Tattersalls December Sale, where she was offered by Newsells Park Stud.
Senta's Dream, an unraced daughter of Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Starine, has produced three successful offspring, with her two other scorers the minor winners Caterina and Dream And Hope.
Senta's Dream has a yearling colt by Australia and delivered a filly by Camelot in March this year.
Iridessa is not the first Group 1 winner bred by the O'Brien's Whisperview Trading, as the operation has also been responsible for the likes of Moyglare Stud Stakes scorer Intricately, Oaks heroine Qualify and Beethoven, who claimed the Dewhurst Stakes nine years ago.
Further Group 1 success could be on the cards for Whisperview Trading, as Mohawk, a son of Galileo out of the Encosta De Lago mare Empowering, is due to line up in Saturday's renewal of the Dewhurst Stakes for Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore partners.
