BANKER

Delft Dancer (4.20 Leicester)

Mark Johnston has won this race twice in the last three years, both with the topweight, and Silvestre de Sousa has taken all of the last three runnings. The trends obviously point the way of Delft Dancer and so does the formbook. The Dutch Art filly has been extremely consistent in her five runs to date, never finishing outside the first five, all over five and six furlongs. She steps up in trip today but looked as if it would suit when staying on to finish second last time out and can give the weight away to her rivals here.

GOOD THING

Player's Luck(9.05 Doncaster)

Following three low-key novice runs, Roger Varian's Player's Luck was given a 51-day break and stepped up in trip for his handicap debut and looked a different proposition. The Speightstown colt was taken to the front by Jack Mitchell in the Salisbury contest and looked like he was travelling the best of the five-strong field for much of the race, but struggled to find a change of pace when challenged between the last two furlongs and was eventually overhauled. He did, however, stick on at the one pace to finish second and might have been closing at the line. The extra two furlongs will suit him and he has no ground doubts.
