York Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm for the afternoon action

With four races featuring fewer than eight runners at Ascot, I'll be heading to York for a Placepot, although there's two there as well.

They look fairly straightforward, though, and I can't believe will finish out of the frame in the Sky Bet York Stakes (3.15), which is leg three.

He has easily the best form and should be favourite, while the other small-field contest (3.50) is likely to be dominated by , who was a bit too free on her Lingfield debut and will have learned from that.

She defends an unbeaten family record at York as her sire, Iffraaj, won the Wokingham when it was run here in 2005 and also won his other start in a Group 2, while her dam, Nahoodh, won the Lowther.

The opening leg (2.05) is the 'Jump Jockeys' Nunthorpe', which might go to , one of five runners trained by Paul Midgley.

Mid Winster comes into the race on the back of a pair of career-bests, ran well when fourth to Copper Knight here in May, and should go close for Sam Twiston-Davies.

, also in great form, is the chosen back-up under Tom Scudamore.

There are plenty with good course form in the Sky Bet Dash (2.40), and I'll be surprised if we don't get through with one of , and , who all have a lot going for them.

In leg five (4.25) is a long way from the horse he once was, but he has been in good form over hurdles and has a workable Flat mark. He goes in with , who is progressing steadily.

In the last (5.00) bounced back last time when looking like he'd appreciate another step up in trip. He is now a stone lower than when fifth in the Hunt Cup last year.

The three-year-old has been in solid form on his last few runs and looks a pretty safe back-up.
